NBA GPP Play for 12/2
@Thehumnraindlay December 2
Hey everyone, it’s @thehumnraindlay bringing you GPP picks for today's 9 game slate on DraftKings. I am going to provide some chalky high priced studs, but also some contrarian picks that just might give you that little extra boost to carry you to the top of the leaderboards. I have taken into account most of the injury news that is already out there, but Chris Paul is still very questionable and the Clippers are the last game of the night so we won't know for sure until closer to game time . If CP3 does not play Blake Griffin becomes a must play for me at $9100. Lets get to today's plays.
Point Guard:
John Wall vs LA Lakers ($8000) - I really wish Wall did not have the huge game he did last night. Wall’s price has come down significantly and he remains a great value at this price point. Last night he went off for 65.5 DK points against an above average Cavs team. Tonight he gets to face a terrible Lakers team that is allowing 52 DK points per game to point guards and ranks 29th in Defense vs Position (DvP). Wall is averaging 20 field goal attempts in his last four games and 41.6 DK points in his last four. Dollar for dollar Wall is the top PG option tonight.
Patrick Beverley vs New Orleans ($4100) - Beverley has started the last three games and averaged over 30 mins per game and 22 DK points per game during that span. Tonight he gets a great matchup against the Pelicans team that is allowing over 52 DK points per game to point guards and ranks 30th in DvP. On top of that the Rockets have one of the highest implied team total of 107. I know Harden can score but he can't score them all. Look for Beverley to chip in across the board tonight and give you some salary relief in the process.
Shooting Guard:
James Harden vs New Orleans ($10300) - Speaking of Harden, he will most definitely feast tonight. He might not be able to score all 107 the Rockets are projected for, but 50 is not out of the question. Over his last four games Harden is averaging a staggering 40 minutes per game and 59.6 DK points per game. Fire up the bearded one in all formats tonight as a premier play.
Bradley Beal vs LA Lakers ($7000) - Beal is another player who is seeing huge minutes lately and taking full advantage. Last night he had 40.25 DK points and played over 40 minutes. Beal is averaging 33.6 DK points per game over his last four and has played over 40 minutes in two of those four. The Wizards were without Gooden, Neal and Nene last night. If all three miss again, tonight’s starters will continue to see big minutes. Beal can fill it up in all categories which gives him a huge ceiling.
Jeremy Lamb vs Golden State Warriors ($4800) - Lamb and the Hornets are facing the demolition crew of the undefeated Warriors. Jeremy Lin is questionable for tonight and if he site Lamb because a huge value play, but even if Lin plays I still like Lamb. Over his last four games Lamb is averaging 27.2 minutes per game and 27.2 DK points per game. If he sees minutes in the 30’s he will smash value.
Small Forward:
Carmelo Anthony vs Philadelphia ($8300) - Tonight most people are going to overlook Carmelo and either pay up for Paul George of take Kawhi Leonard for only $300 more. This makes Melo a great contrarian GPP play. He is capable of a huge game every night he takes the court and tonight that is bolstered by the team he faces. For the season Philly is allowing 44 DK points per game to small forwards and ranks 29th in DvP. In two of his last 4 games Melo has put up 45 and 51.5 DK points which is exactly what we need to pay off his salary.
Nicolas Batum vs Golden State Warriors ($7400) - This is another contrarian play as most people will save the $200 and move down to red hot Robert Covington tonight instead of taken Batum. Batum has the better matchup as Philly faces a tougher defensive team in the Knicks and sports a low team total of 91. This is another volume play for me as Batum is averaging 37.3 minutes per game and 39.5 DK points per game over his last four. Their team total is 102 and we all know the Warriors like to get up and down the court which opens up a lot of opportunities for a guy like Batum who can do everything.
Power Forward:
Anthony Davis @ Houston ($10700) - Davis is never someone I like to roster in cash games because he is made of glass and can break at any time and leave the game. When he is on the court instead of in the locker room he is one of the best players in the game who is capable of exploding for huge numbers. In 5 of his last 6 games Davis had played over 39 minutes and scored more than 50 DK points. That is the type of court time we love seeing from a high priced superstar. Davis almost had a triple double last night and tonight he faces the Rockets who are 29th in DvP against power forwards. Fire up the Brow and watch your score continue to climb.
Draymond Green vs Charlotte ($7900) - Green is at an interesting price point where people will have to choose between him, Porzingis and Millsap which might make him more underowned than he should be. I love Draymond tonight for a number of reasons. The Warriors have the highest game total of 212 and highest team total of 110. They will also be without Harrison Barnes tonight who is out with an injury. This season Draymond is averaging 37.5 DK points per game when Barnes plays and a staggering 48.5 DK points per game when Barnes is out. Draymond has a triple double is two of his last 4 games and has already shown his very high ceiling this season when he dropped 62 DK points on the Nets last month.
Center:
There are a ton of good options at center tonight and this will be the hardest and mostly likely last position I fill on rosters tonight. The good news for those of us on DraftKings is that we can roster two of them in the same lineup. This is most likely the strategy I will be employing today.
Dwight Howard/Clint Capela vs New Orleans ($7100/$5500) - Both of these guys are in play and it just comes down to who you can afford. The Pelicans are allowing 53.5 DK points per game to centers and rank dead last in DvP against centers. Last night Marc Gasol exploded for 75 DK points against this same Pelicans team. While I don't expect either of these guys to score that many points, I would not be shocked to see each of them go for 40-50.
Marcin Gortat vs LA Lakers ($5600) -The Wizards are in such a good spot tonight against LA I had to include all 3 of their studs. I played all three in the same lineups last night as was rewarded with big games from all of them. Tonight should be a repeat performance. For the season the Lakers as a team are shooting 41.1% from the field. Last night alone Kobe put up 26 shots and only made 7 and as a team the Lakers were 33-89 from the field. All of these misses equal rebounding opportunities which is what Gortat does best. If Nene and Gooden miss the game again tonight, Gortat will be the only big man they can rely on and he will play 30 plus minutes. In his last four games he is averaging 30 minutes per game and 31.8 DK points per game.
Alex Len @ Detroit ($3300) - This will probably be a popular option since Len scored 43 DK points last night. Chandler has already been ruled out for this game so if Len can stay out of foul trouble he should see more than enough minutes to pay of his near minimum salary. On the season Len is averaging 26.6 DK points per game when Chandler is out. This pick has boom or bust potential and it all hinges on his ability to stay out of foul trouble.
Good luck tonight everyone and if you have any questions hit me up on twitter @thehumnraindlay
