#MCM- Devonta Freeman, RB, Atlanta Falcons
-Hoover26 October 5
This article offers a real window into this guy’s character. So, in a nutshell, Freeman is a high ranked fantasy running back with historic touchdown production and a top notch human being with no off the field issues. Sounds like the perfect storm, especially in a season riddled with disappointment (cough...Marshawn Lynch) from the running back position (cough...DeMarco Murray, cough...C.J. Anderson).
Some people might try to rain on Freeman’s parade, reminding you that his upcoming schedule includes some of the toughest defenses against the run (junkyardjake.com). Nevertheless, Freeman had his two biggest games against defenses that were very solid, so there is really no reason to say that he can’t perform against these competitors. So, Devonta Freeman is this week’s #MCM. Good luck trying to find him cheap in ANY league. However, if you are extremely lucky and have the opportunity to trade for/sign him, or if you drafted him (not to rub it in, but I did), take advantage of it. He might just be the next big thing!

It is finally Monday (I know I couldn’t wait), which means the time has come for #MCM (Man Crush Monday for all you new readers out there)! This week, my Man Crush is the breakout star running back, Devonta Freeman. If you read my article, Buy Low/Sell High week four, you know that I omitted Devonta Freeman from the “Sell High” portion despite the huge wave of people attempting to sell him. Going from seldom seen backup to three TD rusher can make people think “That was a fluke, better sell him while he’s hot”. But something told me that Freeman was different. He seemed like the kind of player that could maintain a high level of success. I believed that some combination of skill, desire and opportunity would keep his value high. There I go, getting all mushy. Regardless, he went and stuck it to all those doubters out there by rushing for another trio of touchdowns, this time against a very solid Texans defense. This guy is a beast, plain and simple. Take a look at these stats through four games:
66 carries, 252 yards, 7 rushing TD, 17 catches for 196 yards.
Seven touchdowns in the first four weeks. Not to mention his receiving prowess. Starting to see why I have a Man Crush? He certainly made the most of Tevin Coleman’s injury.
The crushing doesn’t stop at the stats, however. What I respect most of all about Freeman is the fact that he is a legitimate, stand up guy. He clearly loves the game, not just the money that comes with it. He wears his number in honor of his late aunt, who passed away at 24, and truly cares about his family.
