#MCM - Allen Robinson, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars

My Man Crush Monday this week is the Jaguars second-year WR, Allen Robinson. “A Rob”, as we at Fantasy Football Underground call my MCM, is an up-and-coming WR that received a lot of hype at the end of last season as he started to build a rapport with QB Blake Bortles. While I was slightly interested in A Rob as I started doing research for a dynasty draft a few months ago, I have to admit I had my reservations because, well, he plays for the Jaguars. That was until last week when he absolutely TORCHED the Dolphins’ secondary in a Jaguars victory. I knew I must have him.
I already had A Rob in one of my redraft leagues, and after his lackluster Week 1, I almost sat him. I decided to give him another shot, and what did he do? A Rob put up a stat line of 6 receptions for 155 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns. I was convinced. I immediately traded for him in my other redraft league. While his stats this week weren’t quite as impressive as in Week 2, it is clear to see A Rob is “the guy” on the Jaguars receiving corps.
Standing at 6’3 and weighing 215, A Rob isn’t a massive WR. What sets him apart from many others is his 4.4 speed and his 42 inch vertical. This makes him an incredible deep ball option for Bortles, and his vertical means he can go up and get the ball with the best of them. Making him even more enticing, Bortles has said A Rob is by far one of his favorite red zone targets. With Julius Thomas (the next best red zone option) there’s no reason to think A Rob won’t be thrown to early and often.
Most people all have the same reservations I had about A Rob’s talent. Ultimately, he does play for the Jaguars. While this is quite frightening, I strongly believe the Jags will improve mightily this year (as can be seen from the first three weeks of football). Furthermore, if the Jaguars do get down early to a team this just means more action downfield for Bortles’ favorite (and by far best) WR, as the team tries to get back into the game.
The fantasy football community is rapidly realizing the talent of A Rob, and your window to get him on the cheaper side will soon be gone. I luckily snuck in and grabbed him early when his value hadn’t completely skyrocketed. A Rob’s talent along with Bortles’ love for the wideout, makes him a truly important piece to any fantasy team. I strongly believe A Rob will finish as a top 15 WR this year, even on a bad Jaguars team. A Rob is my MCM, and I hope this article has given you a little bit more love for the guy as well.
