#MCM- Chris Bosh, PF-C, Miami Heat
@Hoover__26 December 21
This week’s #MCM, Chris Bosh, could have been featured in an upcoming #TBT, as he is 31. However, I just couldn’t wait that long to write an article on him. He has anchored the Miami Heat since 2010, after a successful stint with the Raptors. He is the only other Heat starter besides Dwyane Wade that is left from the “Big Three” era. Bosh has maintained his stats from those days as well, and looks to bring the Heat back into the limelight.
Chris Bosh was drafted 34th overall on average in espn.com drafts. That puts him below guys like Nerlens Noel and Jeff Teague. However, he has managed to average more fantasy points than guys like LaMarcus Aldridge and Gordon Hayward, both of whom were taken before him on average. Bosh gives you more than the traditional big man. He combines great post scoring ability with rebounding and blocks. However, he also has one of the best face-up games in the NBA, and drains an average of 1.5 threes per game. 81% of his shots come from either within three feet of the basket, or sixteen feet to three point range (basketball-reference.com). His combined field goal percentage from those ranges comes out to about 53.5%, which is a tremendous number.
Chris Bosh’s ability to replicate or improve upon his previous numbers every season, despite getting older, is something that really amazes me. His ten consecutive All-Star appearances are also quite impressive. I was impressed enough to take Bosh 29th overall in my league, a decision I have come to recognize as a key to this season’s success. Chris Bosh is this week’s #MCM, and he certainly deserves it. He has managed to score 17.5 points, snatch 8.1 rebounds, and drop 2.2 assists per game this season, despite the fact that this year’s starting lineup hadn’t played a single minute together last season.
