Top Week Fifteen Quarterbacks
@RJ_Kasper December 19
Cam Newton @ NYG ($7800) – Cam has been extremely reliable averaging 28.1 DK points over his last 4 weeks. He is easily a strong cash game play and, if Olsen is healthy, he should really carve the Giants up over the middle. The Giants rank near the bottom in overall defense, but have had their share of injuries at corner and a 7 TD game to help skew those numbers. They are still reasonably strong on the outside and funnel towards the middle of the field. With injuries piling up, I expect Cam to lead the charge and be the Super Man we know.
Carson Palmer @ Phi ($7000) – Phi has an atrocious secondary, I am really hoping they continue to play better on offense to keep this game close enough. I love Carson this week. I love his receivers. I love David Johnson. But…I love Carson. Carson is as safe a cash play as Cam with similar upside minus rushing, but you get the $800 savings. Phi is playing for their slim shot and also for their coach, so I expect them to perform respectably, which helps Carson. I prefer naked Carson since he spreads the ball around, but if you can pair him with the right receiver, you’ll have a nice stack to build around. When Toast plays for your defense, you take the opposing QB in fantasy. It’s not rocket science.
Russell Wilson Vs Cle ($7000) – Is he still a thing? Three straight weeks over 32 DK points and I don’t think I rostered him once. I felt like it was chasing points, and still do, but you can’t ignore his stats. I won’t roster him in cash because I am afraid he will dupe me, but he is totally cash game viable. If anything you should fade him in tournaments because he will be so highly owned, 23.7% on Thursday Fanduel. This is a great spot for him though and I think he could easily put a 4th straight 30+ performance up or fall back to the mid teens that he has had all season.
Matthew Stafford @ NO ($6100) – Stafford is probably one of my favorite plays this week. He most likely isn’t very sneaky considering his opponent, but he shines against bad teams. NO is clearly the worst pass defense in the league. Say what you want about Jim Bob Cooter’s name, he has found ways to play to Stafford’s strengths. He is in cash game consideration and a great GPP play off Wilson. Calvin is slowing down, so I like pairing with Tate in this one. Showtime in the Dome is going to win someone some big money.
Blake Bortles vs Atl ($6100) – Forget everything I said about those first guys, okay not really, but Bortles has been HOT! Not Russell Wilson hot, though, which helps depresses his ownership. My favorite thing about Bortles is the red number 6 next to his name. I know I have mentioned this before, but it tricks your mind into saying “bad matchup, pick someone else”, but really this is a good spot. Atl is “okay” on defense, but not as great on the road (they got shredded last week). I mention Bortles weekly and how the Jags let him air it out all the time, and with Yeldon sidelined, this week should be no different. He is an excellent cash play and strong GPP play as well.
Derrick Carr Vs GB ($5600) – This is a sneaky spot for Carr to do well in. He is an excellent play in you GPP this week. GB is a good team and will challenge Oak on the road. However, Oak is coming off, probably, one of their biggest wins in years. They beat division leader Denver Broncos last week and are proving they are soon to be the team to beat. Cooper was held without a catch and is in the back of everyone’s mind, but this team can still play offense. I like a mini game stack here with Carr, Cooper/Crabtree, and Cobb. There are better cash options, but at $5600 I wouldn’t tell you your process is wrong.
