#TBT- Chris Paul, PG, Los Angeles Clippers
@Hoover__26 March 31
In today’s NBA, no position is stacked more than point guard. However, with Stephen Curry and Russell Westbrook entrenched as the league’s top two point guards, many wonder who the #3 man might be. Perhaps nobody has a better case to make than this week’s #TBT, 30 year old Chris Paul. He has had an unbelievable career thus far, and still has plenty of game left in the tank. Even in his tenth year in the league, Paul is topping his career scoring average of 18.8 points per game. He is shooting a fantastic 37.2% from long range this season, which is a number he has only topped in three previous seasons (two of which were played in New Orleans, before he was almost sent to the Lakers and eventually traded to the Clippers). CP3 is looking as strong as ever, and is going to have to continue to be a main factor if this veteran Clippers team wants to make a playoff run.
Chris Paul was one of the most accurately gauged players coming into this season (which is a serious rarity in all of fantasy sports lately), having been drafted 8th overall on average (espn.com) and scoring the 9th most fantasy points per game (also espn.com). That just goes to show how consistent CP3 has been over the course of his more than likely Hall of Fame career.
Just think about this; nobody, in the history of basketball (NBA or ABA), has had a better career offensive rating than Chris Paul. Not Reggie Miller, not Magic, not John Stockton, not even Kiki Vandeweghe (yes, Kiki is #5) could pull it off. CP3 is clearly one of the best passers in NBA history, and is amazingly still in his prime. This week’s #TBT is not only one of the best statistical players in the NBA (great for fantasy of all sorts), but is also one of the most electrifying players in the game as well.
