Top Week Fourteen Tight Ends
@RJ_Kasper December 12
There is not a lot to like at TE this week, with a lot of injuries and guys in tough matchups.
Greg Olsen vs Atl ($6900) – Olsen is getting to be too expensive. With Gronk out, he has become the most reliable and safe TE, which is driving his price up. But he is safe. So against a division rival ATL team and on a week were TE is scarce, I think he is your best cash play and the easiest choice of the week, regardless of matchup.
Jordan Reed @ Chi ($5100) – CAUTION: The weather is supposed to be terrible in this game, so check it before committing to Reed. If the weather blows over, Reed is an elite option. He is always a favorite target of Cousins and a safe bet in cash games and GPP. The best part about Reed is he always has that 30-point upside.
Benjamin Watson @ TB ($4400) – Watson is a bit overpriced here at 4400 but may be worth it with the midweek injury news surfacing. Vegas has this game at 50.5, which is a huge line, and those points have to come from someone. Enter Watson, who has had a big game already this year and has shown good rapport with Brees. Brees spreads the ball, but if Cooks can’t go I think Watson is the biggest beneficiary.
Julius Thomas vs Ind ($4200) – Bortles has all his weapons healthy and ready to attack the 30th dvoa against the pass defense. Pass catcher will score in this game. Naked Bortles is an option, but if you want a contrarian pairing throw Thomas in. Thomas is talented, and though he was quite last week with Hurns out, I think Hurns being back this week will actually help him. It will open up the underneath routes that play to his strengths. I don’t see the Colts keeping pace with their 40 year old QB, leaving the Jax O to go a little crazy in back-to-back weeks.
Austin Sefarian-Jenkins vs NO ($2700) – ASJ saw 30% of the snaps in limited action last week and had 7 DK points. This week his snaps should go up and he is a favorite of Winstons, which leads to points. I love him in cash for salary relief, even if it is a bit contrarian. You can’t deny his production, when healthy, this year with Winston. He is a sure bet to pay off his salary and is great for a TB stack as well. I am praying his ownership stays down.
