#MCM- Odell Beckham Jr., WR, New York Giants
-Hoover26 November 2
Odell Beckham Jr. Those words give me chills. As a football fan, I can’t remember the last time a young player burst on to the scene like OBJ has, and completely raised the bar for his position. Pretty much every rookie has some sort of adjustment period when they reach the NFL. Peyton Manning threw 28 interceptions in his rookie year. Usually, great players don’t emerge the second they step onto the field. However, my man Odell put up the kind of rookie numbers we have not seen since Anquan Boldin or Randy Moss.
Odell is a human highlight reel. His hands remind me more of baskets than they do actual hands. His fantasy value is through the roof. I usually don’t say this, but he’s awesome, plain and simple. Think about this… He ranked fifth in fantasy points for receivers last year (per nfl.com scoring) despite missing FOUR games! He is ranked tenth in the NFL so far this year in Defense-adjusted Yards Above Replacement, higher than Julio Jones or Julian Edelman (footballoutsiders.com). He is currently the fourth ranked fantasy receiver (nfl.com) despite a nagging hamstring injury.
If you put aside the stats, fantasy points, and all those numbers, one thing becomes clear; OBJ can flat out play. His freakish athleticism and ability to move his body while soaring in the air is unmatched by even the most athletic players. His catch against Dallas last year was, well, here:

Truly amazing. But, I’m sure you have seen it already. Odell is a different kind of player. There are lots of guys who go out, play great, and win games. But Odell has the ability to do that, as well as electrify you, simultaneously. Odell has the ability to make droves of fans come out to see him WARM UP. Odell has the ability to fill the stands with more people in one day than the Cleveland Indians can in four. That is Odell.
This week’s #MCM has had us jumping out of our seats, cheering so loud we can’t hear ourselves think, and staring with our jaws on the floor. Now, he has us waiting anxiously for what he will do next.
