#TBT- Adrian Peterson, RB, Minnesota Vikings

Running backs are more prone than any other position to becoming “one hit wonders”. Since the last time the great Barry Sanders held the rushing title (1997), there have been only three players to win more than one rushing title, Edgerrin James, LaDainian Tomlinson, and Adrian Peterson (wikipedia.com). Four of them never rushed for 1,000 yards again after winning the rushing title, not counting DeMarco Murray (pro-football-reference.com). Adrian Peterson, however, is the picture of sustained success.
AP was the second player taken on average in fantasy drafts (espn.com), and has certainly lived up to those monster expectations. He is currently the second ranked running back (per espn.com scoring) behind Devonta Freeman, and has the most rushing attempts and yards in the NFL by a large margin. Most backs hit a wall when they reach 30, but Peterson seems to be running as well as he ever did.
Peterson is leading a very talented Vikings team to an apparent playoff berth (and very sneakily, I might add. I didn’t even know they were leading the division until they flashed the standings during the Packers game). Teddy Bridgewater has been playing with a lot of poise, and has grown into the “game manager” role very well. For the record, any quarterback who isn’t a game manager isn’t in the game, if you ask me. A strong offense coupled with a very good defense has given the Vikings a nice edge this year.
Adrian Peterson is one of the best running backs in recent memory, and continues to defy doubters and prove, once and for all, that age is only a number.
