#TBT- Jay Cutler, QB, Chicago Bears
@Hoover__26 December 17
Jay Cutler is an interesting character. He has struggled a bit for parts of the year, and has been hurt as well. However, he has also had games where he makes you forget all of that. Last week was one of them, as he threw for a pair of touchdowns, not to mention over 300 yards. That kind of play the Bears will need from their 32 year old quarterback, as their playoff odds currently sit at 1% (sportsclubstats.com).
Cutler finally appears free from some nagging injuries, and the rest of his team is healing as well. His two-headed rushing attack of Jeremy Langford and the now healthy Matt Forte is allowing Cutler to make throws against defenses that are protecting against the run. His receivers are on the field playing, despite maybe not being 100%. Alshon Jeffery is a bona fide number one receiver at any strength, and Cutler has the ability to get him the ball.
Cutler is currently in the top ten for quarterbacks in multiple major metric categories, including Defense-adjusted Yards Above Replacement (footballoutsiders.com). His injuries, and injuries to those around him, have lowered his rankings greatly, but Cutler has been deceptively good this year. He has the ability to have a throwback game at any time, even at 32 years old. That may not seem that old, but Cutler has had more than a few injuries in his career. However, he is still able to give the Bears (and you, if you need to stream a QB that is owned in about a quarter of espn.com fantasy leagues) some very nice production.
Jay Cutler is this week’s NFL #TBT, and he can surprise you with some very good fantasy games!
