#TBT- Paul Millsap, PF, Atlanta Hawks
@Hoover__26 December 24
Welcome to a special Christmas Eve edition of #TBT. On this very joyous Thursday, I will be talking about a 30 year old player who can light up the scoreboard on any given night. Paul Millsap is the fourth oldest player on an Atlanta Hawks team with a great mix of youth and veteran talent. Millsap is currently leading his team in points per game, rebounds per game, steals per game, minutes per game, points per shot attempt and player efficiency rating (espn.com). So, I think it’s safe to say that Paul Millsap is the star of the Hawks. He can also be the star of your fantasy team, despite his age starting to climb.
Millsap was drafted 21st overall in espn.com drafts, on average. That would make him the fifth power forward taken in most drafts. Before the season, I might have said that was a bit high for a guy on a team with other dominant stars (like Jeff Teague, Kyle Korver and Al Horford). However, of the four power forwards taken before him, only one (Blake Griffin) has managed to total more fantasy points than Millsap.
Millsap is a threat to score from anywhere on the court, a trait possessed by few frontcourt men. Nearly 44% of his shots come from over ten feet from the basket, and he shoots above 40% from that range. Millsap’s 17.8 points and 8.8 rebounds per game might be enough to grant him his third consecutive All-Star appearance, and drive his fantasy stock through the roof.
Paul Millsap is this week’s NBA #TBT. He can light it up from anywhere on the court, and he can drive you to a fantasy title!
Happy Holidays from myself and the entire Fantasy Football Underground crew! Good luck!
