Top Week Sixteen Tight Ends
@RJ_Kasper December 26
First, I just want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thank you for reading our weekly positional breakdowns. I hope they are improving your ROI.
Rob Gronkowski @ NYJ ($7600) – I don’t really like writing about Gronk because he is so obvious. He is a physical freak with huge upside in an offense that really needs to rely on him. This week is no different. I do want to say this: All this talk about Reed or Barnidge or anyone else being “the next Gronk” or “as good as Gronk” is crap. Gronk is unique in his size and athleticism. Those guys are good and performing well, but one on one they don’t come close to Gronk. That’s all.
Greg Olsen @ Atl ($7000) – Olsen is the new Gronk…I’m kidding. Olsen is in a great matchup against ATL and he’s Cam’s favorite target. He had a low score against them 2 weeks ago and I think this helps keep his ownership down (people really do look at this). He won’t be under owned by any means. He is great in GPP and Cash. I still worry about them pulling the starters or something, so roster with care.
Julius Thomas @ NO ($5100) – Thomas is just one of many great targets in this offense and has TD upside for sure. The Saints are bad on the outside but are equally bad in the middle too. Thomas is not the 1st read in this O but certainly gets his chances. I have a better cash play, but he is absolutely viable in both formats.
Zach Miller @ TB ($4000) – $4000…sucking the value out of Miller. With Alshon out he becomes the top target in this game. I really like his upside here and believe he is one of the better TE plays this week. TB has a good run D and an “okay” pass D and should play with a lead here. This opens more opportunity for Miller and Forte.
Will Tye @ Min ($3500) – Maybe I am crazy but Tye is my favorite TE this week. The top target in this offense is out and Tye has proven to be a redzone threat and a reliable target. I see his targets going up and so his catches and chances for a score. Tye is absolutely in play for cash and GPP. He was just 5.4% on Thursday FanDuel slate.
